Meet Ann Marie

Ann Marie DiPietro, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC was born and raised in Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She received her bachelors degrees in nursing and women’s studies from the Pennsylvania state university schreyer honors college in 2010 and went on to attend the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program at the university of Pennsylvania. Following graduation, Ann Marie became board certified in psychiatric mental health nursing across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults) and is currently licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
Following graduation, Ann Marie began working at a large pediatric mental health organization in outpatient, inpatient, and acute partial hospitalization levels of care. She continued work in community mental health for another large children’s mental health program before beginning her work with individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities with severe challenging behavior. Ann Marie worked at a residential treatment facility for some of the most complex and difficult cases nationally. during this time, she collaborated with board certified behavior analysts (BCBA) both at work, in research, and in national symposiums and workshops. her favorite is her “medication boot camp” workshop which she has continued to present regularly over the years. Ann Marie’s area of research during this time included the reduction of polypharmacy through interdisciplinary collaboration. Ann Marie was heavily involved in planning for the transition to IDD adult services as well. working with families and bcbas of children and adults with severe asd/idd continues to be one of Ann Marie’s passions today.
in 2018, Ann marie was able to continue her work with asd/idd through starting as a consultant for the Y.a.l.e. school in Philadelphia, a school for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. when challenging cases are identified, they are referred for consultation. Ann Marie then meets with the bcbas, children, and their parents weekly. she is thrilled to be able to continue in this collaborative role between prescribers and bcbas!
At this time in 2018, Ann Marie also began working at one of the largest eating disorder programs in the country in their acute partial hospitalization program. this was a new population for her at the time and was just the challenge she needed. there is so much to learn (did you know that eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any mental illness?). There is such a need for providers who are willing to and educated about treating individuals with eating disorders and their co-occurring symptoms (i.e. trauma, anxiety). Ann Marie continues to work with individuals with eating disorders in her private practice today.
alongside of her work at these various agencies, Ann Marie started open road psychiatric services in 2015 in West Chester, pa. she worked after hours of her full time job until 2018 when she made the transition to half time...and finally making the leap to full time private practice in 2020 and continues to work full time in private practice today.
